Juvenile Dance Exams

10427292_694627627311735_2318739635898637744_nChildren from 2 years old can begin to learn how to Dance at our Dance Classes in Northwich. Here at Sutton School of Dance Northwich, we teach the N.A.T.D board as we’ve found this board to be the most accessible, fair, and achievable for all our pupils; whether they want to dance just as a hobby, or want to continue to study Dance at Degree level, or at private Dance and Musical Theatre Colleges in London. Until our students are ready and feel comfortable to begin taking their Graded NATD Dance Exams, we encourage and reward our students with Trophy Exams. Trophy Exams are taken once a year, where the children perform 1 or 2 short themed dances in costume with the rest of their class. This is with the help of their teacher and danced in front of a professional NATD Examiner. They will then receive a report form from the Examiner, along with a Trophy engraved with their name to get their Dance Trophy collection off to a flying start. Here at our Dance Classes Northwich we find these Trophy Exams a great way to introduce our pupils to Exams in a fun, supportive, calm environment. Our pupils love learning these themed dances and earning a Trophy to show to family and friends for all their hard work and talent in Dance.

Junior Dance Exams

10624896_694633897311108_1227020297998160474_nHere at Sutton School of Dance Classes Northwich we follow the N.A.T.D Professional Dance Syllabus from approximately age 6 and above. We believe this to be a suitable age both mentally and physically for our pupils to begin to really start to build upon the foundations they have already put in place and start to consciously develop their technique and performance skills. The Junior NATD Dance Exams consist of a steady progression through Class Examination, Preliminary, Grade 1 and Grade 2, with equal emphasis on Ballet, Modern and Tap. We find that the 3 Dance disciplines not only broaden our pupils Dance training; resulting in a versatile well rounded Dancer, but also keep the Dance Classes Northwich jam packed with opportunities for each pupil to shine and enjoy different aspects of Dancing. Along with progressing through the NATD Graded Dance Exams, we offer all our pupils the chance to take Medal and Trophy Dance Exams. The Medal Exams consist of a routine accompanied by 2 contrasting dances in the relevant discipline. The Trophy Exams consist of up to 5 Dances of various disciplines and styles including solos, duets and group dances. Our pupils love taking their Trophy Exams as they not only get a Trophy engraved with their name, but get to perform fun dances with their friends with no technical pressure. Both the Medal and Trophy Exams are taken in costume provided for by Sutton School of Dance, and really encourage the pupils to develop their sense of performance and style

Senior Dance Exams

1002536_694627057311792_7874554739577218186_nSimilarly to the Junior Exams our students continue to progress equally through their Ballet, Modern and Tap Graded NATD Dance Exams progressing on to Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 5, Grade 6, Intermediate Foundation then Intermediate. They continue to develop their repertoire and knowledge of the technique and steps, but obviously to a more advanced standard. It is at this stage where we believe our pupils really begin to look like dancers and really embrace their own personal style and flare. The students still love taking their Medal and Trophy Exams, and by this stage their Trophy shelf is on its way to getting pretty full! Here at Sutton School of Dance Classes Northwich we are constantly trying to keep things fresh, fun and personal. Moreover the Dances they perform are stylistically and musically up to date and suitable for their age and ability. When our students progress onto Grade 6, we offer them the chance to dance more than once a week, to which most jump at! By this time the students are so committed and passionate about their dancing, and with the Grades becoming bigger in content, the student really feel they benefit from more lesson time. However, extra coaching is not compulsory and we support all our students at the pace they want to progress at.
